Psychology Goes Approad

The app Investigates homesickness in exchange students over time.

The Psychology Goes Approad app is part of a research project that revolves around the occurrence and development of homesickness in exchange students throughout a study related stay abroad. As such it is primarily used for scientific purposes. Notably it regularly assesses current homesickness and provides a framework to analyse the obtained data afterwards in order help unraveling the underpinnings of homesickness as a broad societal phenomenon.

As the app is intended to offer participants a personal payoff apart from contributing to the advancement of science, it is equipped with numerous constantly updated individualized statistics that provide users with a simple but powerful method to track their own homesickness over time. In a similar vein the app does also encompass further statistical feature that allow participants to compare their own reports and mean ratings to those of all other users.

The app is in line with scientific guidelines and employs an informed consent. Furthermore the collected data will be exclusively used for scientific analysis. Participants’ data will remain anonymous and no attempt shall be made to identify specific individuals. As the data will be treated confidentially it also won’t be passed on to any third parties.
